About the band
THE OUTDOOR TYPES are a band hailing from the slab paved maze of Kidderminster, yet through pilgrimage and honour have established an outlying in the foreboding shipwrecks of her Majesty’s imperial kingdom. Yes London is famed for music and pageantry, yet these fearless men have taken deeper plunges, shaking gun fight poetry into the heart of the bearded night.
So what have these weirdos been up to?
THE OUTDOOR TYPES debut Single ‘Jangler Swifteye / I am a Steeplejack’ was released by the Hand Of Glory Label on 7” vinyl only in October 2007.
The album ‘All Aboard that’s Coming Aboard’ was released on I Blame the Parents Records in 2010. The One Legged Elvis / Drinking Ballad EP followed this in November 2010.
The second full length album ‘It is the Mercy’ was released on June 13th 2011 by I Blame The Parents Records.
There’s another EP coming in the winter, we haven’t seen its gruesome visage yet but we feel its presence like dirty secret.
What the critics say …
The spirits of Bragg and Strummer are on full display, fused into a nifty foot-stompin’ re-invention.
What if The Mighty Boosh had made Bagpuss? See ‘Biro Springs’.
It’s actually quite difficult to pin down The Outdoor Types.
An interesting record full of variation… come and join us on board.
Ever wondered what Morrissey would sound like fronting a folk band?
A moving, grooving good time, as much fun as I’ve had with a record in a long time.
